According to John Schuhmann of NHL.com, the Houston Astros have been in trade talks with the Los Angeles Dodgers for months, but Houston is yet to offer any major-league players so far. The Astros are looking at trading prospects and international slots for a Major League player that would make their team better than what they already have on paper. The Dodgers’ reluctance may force them into deciding whether or not they want Carlos Correa over other free agents like Bryce Harper or Manny Machado.,
Prior to the lockout, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost a slew of free agents, the most notable of which was Corey Seager, who signed a hefty $325 million deal with the Texas Rangers. The Dodgers may be tempted to pursue All-Star free agent shortstop Carlos Correa as a result of Seager’s departure.

The Dodgers went into the summer knowing there would be a lot of changes after failing to win their second World Series in a row.
It included All-Star shortstop Corey Seager signing a 10-year, $325 million contract with the Texas Rangers, in addition to Max Scherzer signing a three-year, $130 million deal with the New York Mets. The Dodgers were interested in keeping Seager, but they weren’t going to make him an offer in that area.
With his outstanding playoff performance, he was instrumental in leading Los Angeles to the 2020 World Series championship. With eight home runs and 20 RBI, he had a triple slash of.328/.425/.746. After hitting.400 with two home runs and five RBI, Seager won the 2020 World Series MVP title, capping off a strong period.
Despite the fact that Seager was in his prime physically, the Dodgers were hesitant to give him a big salary because of his health problems. It compels the Dodgers to devise a new strategy at shortstop, which may lead them to chase a player who is despised by the fans.
In free agency, Carlos Correa may compel the Dodgers to sacrifice their pride.

The expectation months before the summer was that the Dodgers would lose Seager to free agency.
After the Rangers granted the former World Series MVP a big salary, it rapidly became a reality. With Seager out of the picture, the infield is left with a huge void.
The team might choose to move Trea Turner to shortstop, but it also opens up other possibilities. All-Star Carlos Correa is in the spotlight as he seeks a hefty free agency contract that surpasses the $160 million offer he received from the Astros last month.
Jon Heyman, a long-time MLB source, sparked speculation earlier this month when he said the Dodgers may make a significant effort to sign the 27-year-old.
“Is Carlos Correa going to receive the most money, or is Seager going to earn the most money?” According to Heyman’s podcast, Fansided. “It will be fascinating to witness.” Houston is still quite interested in the project. With their $160 million bid, they weren’t even close. The key issue, in my opinion, is whether the Dodgers can accomplish it if they don’t sign Freeman.
“I figured they’d go for Seager first, and if they didn’t get Seager, they’d go after Turner.” You can’t rule out the Dodgers for Correa now that Seager isn’t there and they have so much more money they’re not spending. Right now, my two options for Correa are the Houston Astros or the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
Many Dodgers supporters are enraged by the team’s pursuit of Correa, who is linked to the Astros’ sign-stealing cheating incident. The powerful negative sentiment persists for a very good reason: it harmed Los Angeles’ prospects of winning the 2017 World Series.
Those thoughts aside, Correa is a top infield talent in the league, as well as an above-average defensive player who excels in the playoffs. He’s also in the peak of his career, with a number more successful campaigns ahead of him. It’s a bitter pill to take, but it’s one that has the potential to gain traction.
To fix the infield conundrum, the Dodgers might go in-house.

Although the Dodgers have the option of pursuing Correa, they may also take the in-house way.
Los Angeles parted ways with Seager but signed Chris Taylor to a four-year, $60 million contract. Taylor is the perfect utility player, capable of playing many positions in the infield, including second base. Trea Turner’s flexibility may enable him to move to shortstop.
Gavin Lux, the Dodgers’ starting second baseman, might possibly be elevated to a more prominent position. Another possibility is that they sign All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman, who would move Max Muncy to second base and Turner to shortstop.
In addition to pursuing Correa, Los Angeles has a number of other possibilities. With the great shortstop, it isn’t the be-all and end-all problem, but there is a viable ending that will make many Dodgers fans swallow their pride.
