Kumail Nanjiani, the actor who plays Darryl on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” has been teasing his secret history with other Marvel heroes. It sounds like he might have a big role in the upcoming Marvel movie “Black Panther.”
Kumail Nanjiani is an American comedian, actor, and writer. He is best known for his role on the HBO series Silicon Valley as Dinesh Chugtai.
Marvel fans will only have to wait a few weeks to meet the characters of Eternals, who have a lengthy history. The Eternals are an eternal species with extraordinary abilities that have quietly resided on Earth for hundreds of years, but they’ve been told to only intervene when wicked Deviants are involved, which is why they didn’t assist stop Thanos. However, Kumail Nanjiani’s character, Kingo, is a Bollywood celebrity, and it’s been suggested that he may have had previous interactions with other powerful individuals. Nanjiani didn’t identify any names during a recent interview with’s Brandon Davis, but hinted that Kingo had encountered some otherworldly creatures.
When questioned whether they had created that portion of Kingo’s history, Nanjiani answered, “Yes.” “Chloe [Zhao] had everything planned out, and she had a strong sense of… Because, you know, Eternals have been hiding for a while, haven’t they? So they haven’t been talking to Iron-Man, Captain America, and the rest of the Avengers. They’ve been passing themselves off as regular people. But it’s only natural that my character will meet another character who isn’t from Earth. I’m attempting to be evasive. I’m not sure whether I’m authorized to say anything. So I believe it was all part of the plan, so that even though Eternals is a stand-alone film, you still want to feel the presence and realism of the rest of the MCU. And Chloe is a total geek who knows all there is to know about Marvel and the MCU. As a result, she was ecstatic to include these allusions.”
Nanjiani’s physical change for the Marvel part has been a hot subject of conversation for a while, so it’s something he’s often asked about in interviews. However, the actor told GQ lately that talking about his physique makes him “extremely uncomfortable.”
“I’ve discovered over the last year and a half, since I did that picture, that I’m very uncomfortable talking about my body – and it’s becoming less and less comfortable,” Nanjiani said, adding that his aversion to the topic stems from the message of toxic masculinity that such discussions can convey. “It’s a kind of violence. It’s the emotion of rage. We are often encouraged to be helpful by using our physical power or our mental abilities in an aggressive, competitive manner. I don’t mean it in a sympathetic manner. Not in an open, collaborative manner, at least “He went on to clarify. “It’s the same thing when you have all these folks on Twitter, for example, begging for debates. Arm wrestling is the same thing. It’s all about losing. And dominating has always been the masculine goal. Defeating. Crushing. Killing. Destroying. That’s what it is to be jacked.”
Richard Madden will play Ikaris, Gemma Chan will play Sersi, Angelina Jolie will play Thena, Lia McHugh will play Sprite, Lauren Ridloff will play Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry will play Phastos, Barry Keoghan will play Druig, Don Lee will play Gilgamesh, Kit Harington will play Dane Whitman, and Salma Hayek will play Ajak in Eternals.
